The Rural Electrification Agency (REA) has been implementing 5 lots of Rural Electrification Projects under funding from the French Development Agency (AFD). Prior to construction, the projects were subjected to Environmental Impact Assessment (ElA) and ElA certificates of approval were issued by NEMA. One of the conditions of the EIA certificates issued by NEMA is for REA to carry out a comprehensive Environmental Audit within 36 months from the date of certificate issuance.
